We believe each student learns at their own pace, which means we meet the student where they are, using varying methods and strategies to build on their foundation in order to begin building a structure of understanding so that they can confidently, successfully, and independently apply learned skills and concepts.
I have a Bachelor's Degree in Exercise and Sports Science with a concentration in Health Promotion working towards a Master's Degree in Education. I am currently a 4th-grade teacher in the Durham Public School System. I enjoy watching cooking competitions, spending time with my daughter, and traveling.
My name is Joyce Gresock, and I've been with 1st. Class Tutoring Company since January 2020. I've taught children ages four to fifteen in all areas of math and English language arts. I have my AA from Durham Tech, where I graduated as an honors scholar and my BA in Interdisciplinary Studies specializing in the Social Sciences. I graduated from UNCG Magnum Cum Laude in May 2022, and I was accepted into the graduate program at UNCG in Counseling and Educational Development, where I am currently in the second semester of my first year. I am on a dual licensure track of school counseling and clinical mental health counseling. I also work as a crazy science instructor teaching children ages 4-11 on scientific principles in a fun and entertaining environment. My favorite thing to do when I actually get free time is doing anything creative and artistic.
After many years as a faculty member with the Lab School of Washington, Rowena has been part of Durham-Chapel Hill as a team member of Carolina Friends School, Montessori
Community School, and Carrboro Arts Center. She is a Reading Specialist with experience in pediatric clinical intervention, as well as classroom teaching. Her graduate work at Loyola
University included a minor in Educational Communications which led to grant funded video and radio for children. She is currently on the faculty of Durham Academy.
Hello! My name is Krupa, and I love teaching all math-related! I am currently enrolled at Duke University as a candidate for Master of Public Policy. I have served as a middle school math teacher as well as the mathematics department chair in Mississppi. I hope to give my students the skills and confidence to enhance their performance in the classroom, as well as have fun doing so!
Paige is currently a teacher in the Wake County Public School System. She enjoys working with children to improve the "whole" child. She is extremely knowledgeable of the Common Core and has lots of experience working with students in grades K-6. Paige currently holds a BA in Elementary Education and a MS in Public Policy (Education Policy)
